RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENTTESTABLE QUESTIONS

THE RESEARCH AGENDA

Intelligence should be
evaluated by outcomes.

Atlas investigates whether heterogeneous AI coordination can make work more reliable and efficient under explicit resource, quality, and authority constraints. These are hypotheses to test—not results already established.

OUR CORE QUESTIONSTHREE RESEARCH DIRECTIONS
R / 01

Heterogeneous
intelligence.

Different models have different strengths, costs, and failure modes. When does assigning distinct contributors to planning, execution, critique, and verification improve the verified outcome compared with a strong single-model workflow?

Proposed testCompare task quality, verified completion, cost, and elapsed time against constrained single-model and fixed multi-model baselines.
R / 02

Outcome-informed
coordination.

Can a coordinator use past verified results—not just model self-ratings—to learn better choices about contributor assignment, review depth, escalation, and repair?

Proposed testSeparate training from held-out evaluation and compare learned policies with transparent rule-based alternatives under matched budgets.
R / 03

Adaptive
operator teams.

More agents can create more overhead and more failure opportunities. When is specialized parallel work worth the extra coordination, inference expense, and integration complexity?

Proposed testMeasure marginal gains and failure recovery across different team sizes, task difficulties, and fixed resource ceilings.
HOW WE JUDGE RESULTSRESEARCH METHOD

Evidence is not
the model's opinion.

Strong comparative research needs baselines, honest failure reporting, and independent acceptance. The target is a measurable tradeoff—not a performance headline without context.

01

Verified completion

Did the work satisfy acceptance criteria that were defined before execution?

02

Resource cost

What compute, tokens, time, and human intervention were actually required?

03

Independent judgment

Did checks or independent reviewers support the claimed outcome?

04

Reproducibility

Can the observation be repeated under a declared configuration and task scope?

NEUTRALITY / DEFINEDA DESIGN PRINCIPLE

Model-neutral.
Not model-indifferent.

Provider independence is a design aim, not an assertion of equal capability or absence of bias.

Atlas should select contributors according to requirements, available authority, cost, privacy boundaries, and observed results. Provider neutrality does not suspend safety rules or erase the value of specialized model capabilities.

Research outcomes and benchmarks will appear only after they have an attributable method, scope, and evidence record.
